Going to be speaking at #TEDxSSCBS on 27th March, and as I think about stepping onto that stage, I find myself doing something we often forget to do in the middle of busy lives.

Pausing.

Pausing to look back at the journey. Pausing to question some of the decisions that once felt obvious. Pausing to remember the people, experiences, successes, failures, and unexpected turns that shaped the person I am today. And perhaps most importantly, pausing to understand what truly stayed with me through all of it.

When I was invited to speak at #TEDxSSCBS, the first emotion I felt was gratitude. Not simply gratitude for the opportunity to stand on a TEDx stage, but gratitude for the entire journey that made it possible.

Gratitude for the people who believed in me. Gratitude for those who challenged me. Gratitude for the moments that went exactly as planned and even more for the ones that didn’t.

Because when I look back, some of the experiences that felt like setbacks at the time eventually became the experiences that taught me the most.

The theme of TEDxSSCBS, “The Inner Battlefield,” therefore feels particularly personal.

Most battles in life aren’t visible.

There isn’t always an opponent standing across from us. Sometimes, the biggest conversations happen quietly inside our own minds.

And if I look closely at my journey, I can identify two voices that have repeatedly appeared in those conversations:

Never Give Up.
And:
Never Settle.

At first, they sound like they are saying the same thing.
But they aren’t.

“Never Give Up” tells you to stay. To persist when things become difficult. To keep believing when results aren’t visible yet. To give an idea, relationship, business, dream, or ambition another chance.

“Never Settle” tells you something different.

It tells you to move. To question whether where you are today is where you should remain tomorrow. To refuse comfort when you know you’re capable of more. To evolve even when staying where you are feels easier.

And somewhere between those two voices, we make some of life’s most difficult decisions.

When do you hold on? And when do you move forward?

When does persistence become stubbornness?
When does ambition become impatience?
When should you give something more time?
And when should you accept that growing sometimes requires letting go?

There isn’t always a simple answer.
And that’s exactly what I want this talk to explore.
This isn’t a talk about having everything figured out. It isn’t a formula for success or a collection of perfect answers.

It is about the space between persistence and ambition.
About learning to listen to both voices without allowing either one to completely control you.
Because sometimes the right decision is to stay and fight.
And sometimes the bravest decision is to evolve.
Preparing to share these thoughts also brings with it a deep sense of responsibility. When you put an idea into the world, you don’t always know where it will travel or who it will reach.

Something you say casually may become meaningful to someone facing their own inner battlefield.
A thought that came from your personal experience might help someone interpret theirs differently.
That possibility makes the opportunity even more meaningful.
There are also many people behind moments like these.

A heartfelt thank you to #SSGPS for being a constant source of encouragement and support throughout this journey.

To Rajiv Ranjan, thank you for guiding the way during moments when clarity was needed most. And to our core group, thank you for taking scattered thoughts, questions, stories, and experiences and helping shape them into something meaningful enough to share.

I also want to express my appreciation to the entire #TEDxSSCBS team. The thoughtfulness and effort behind creating an experience like this often happen away from the stage, and they have made this journey incredibly seamless.

I’m equally excited about sharing the stage with an incredible group of speakers Chitra Tripathi, Yashpal Singh, Divija Pandey, Parag Gupta, Sanjay Arora, and Shekhar Pandey.

But perhaps “sharing the stage” isn’t even what excites me most.
I’m excited to listen.
To learn.
To hear perspectives shaped by lives completely different from mine.
To walk into the room with something to share and hopefully walk out with much more to think about.
Because a stage isn’t valuable only because of what you say when you’re standing on it.
Sometimes, its greatest value comes from everything you absorb while sitting in the audience.
So as 27th March approaches, I’m trying not to think only about delivering a talk.
I’m thinking about the pause.

The reflection.
The gratitude.

And the inner conversation between two ideas that have followed me throughout my journey:

Never Give Up.
Never Settle.

Maybe life isn’t about choosing one.
Maybe it’s about developing the wisdom to understand which voice you need to listen to, and when.

Looking forward to sharing these thoughts at #TEDxSSCBS and hopefully returning with a few new ones of my own.
